Be more resolved than ever!
One of my last weeks in Iowa I was canvassing and was talking to a young man about some of his friends who were serving in Iraq.
His father came out of the garage acting somewhat agressive and asked what we were talking about...I started to explain and he
cut me of by looking at his son,who looked already ebarressed, and asked him if he planned on voting for "the n****". His son
closed his eyes humiliated and then went in the house. I honestly was a little caught of guard..Part of me just wanted to walk
away..part of me wanted to scream at the guy for his ignorance..I ,for a split second, thought about Senator Obama and felt a sense
of pain when I heard these words spoken about him. But then I thought about the kind of man he was...I thought about what he stood
for...then I started to talk to the man about Senator Obama's vision of bringing the county togethter in order to face the challenges
we all face as Americans...It was not a very long conversation...it was very cold, getting dark, and I had a lot more houses on my list...
so I thanked the man for his time and move on...
On caucus night I was at a location that was very chaotic...there was record turn out and the elderly couple that was running the caucus
were everwelmed...I was running around franticly trying to keep things organized so that the people standing in line would not leave...I
was looking around the room trying to identify Obama supporters standing in our corner when my eyes saw this man standing in our corner
with his eyes looking glassey...I walk over to him and thanked him for coming...he know longer looked agressive..if anything he looked
insecure...he knodded his head and stood in the Obama corner that night...he stood not only for change in this country that night but
change with in himself...never give up on people and never give up on the power of this movement!
YES WE CAN!
